Mick McCarthy is set to make a host of changes to the team that lost to Birmingham 1-0 in the FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday. Expect Roger Johnson and Kevin Foley to recover from ankle injuries, as well as Matt Jarvis who has a hamstring problem, but Dave Edwards is likely to miss out.

Youngster Matt Doherty may be dropped, with Richard Stearman moving to right-back while Jamie O’Hara is still doubtful, although on-loan midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong is set to return having missed the mid-week loss due to illness.

Chris Herd and Emile Heskey are set to miss out for Villa with ankle and Achilles injuries respectively, but boss Alex McLeish revealed he is considering starting Robbie Keane after the striker joined the club on a short-term loan deal from LA Galaxy.

After their 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday, Aston Villa’s home record this season has seen them earn just 12 points from 11 matches, with just 12 goals scored.

That result was their first score draw in 12 Premier League matches.

Villa are unbeaten in their last five away games in all competitions, winning three and drawing two.

Wolves have not won away from home in the league since the opening day of the season at Blackburn.

They have drawn four of their last five league matches, including twice in north London against Arsenal and Tottenham.

Mick McCarthy's side have not kept a clean sheet since August, when they drew 0-0 at Villa Park in the reverse of Saturday's fixture.

Robbie Keane (right) will make his return to Wolves where he started his career, scoring 29 goals in 88 matches before making a £6 million move to Coventry.

In 51 league matches at Molineux, Villa have 17 wins to Wolves’ 21, with 13 ending as draws.
