 Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is expected to be without Marcos Angeleri, who is recovering from a knee problem. Titus Bramble is also out for this game, having sustained an Achilles injury in the 1-1 draw with Everton. Jack Colback (ankle), also joins the duo in the treatment room.

Wes Brown sustained a groin injury in the 1-0 victory over Manchester City, but is thought to have recovered well enough to be classified as a doubt for this encounter, meaning he may feature. Fraizer Campbell, Craig Gordon and Matthew Kilgallon are also doubts as they recover from their respective injuries.

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers does not have a lengthy injury list to deal with. But he will not be able to call upon the services of long-term casualties Ferry Bodde and Alan Tate, who are sidelined with a knee injury and a broken leg respectively, although Tate has recently returned to training.

    The two teams have met only once in the Premier League, and that was their previous clash in the top-flight this season. It ended in a goalless draw at the Liberty Stadium.

    The last time that Sunderland beat this opposition was back in 1964, which, at the time, was their fourth consecutive victory in the league over the Swans.

    Martin O'Neill's men have been improved greatly since the Irishman's arrival, winning five of the eight games since he has been in charge. They have lost two and drawn the other.

    The home side have managed to keep only one clean sheet in their last nine games in the Premier League.

    Swansea have remained unbeaten in their last seven matches against the Black Cats.

    Brendan Rodgers' men have had dry spells on their travels, having scored only eight goals away from home in the Premier League this season. Only Fulham (seven) have managed to score fewer on away days.

    Nathan Dyer (pictured right) has been in fine form recently, scoring three goals in his last three games - in all competitions - for the visitors. Danny Graham has also put three into the back of the net during this time.

    If all matches ended at half-time, both sides would have remained in the same positions that they find themselves in currently. That is, Swansea would have been in 10th place while Sunderland would have occupied the 12th spot in the standings.
